Michelle Botus,
Executive Director

Michelle Botus holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Tufts University and a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management and Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University. She began her PhD in Organizational Leadership and Change in 2019. Ms. Botus has more than 20 years experience working in Government and Nonprofit sectors. In 2016, Ms. Botus moved to statewide leadership positions with an appointment of the Director of Cross-Agency Initiatives in the Child, Youth, and Family Division at the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH), where her portfolio included, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, Unaccompanied Homeless Youth, and Commercially Exploited Youth. She sat in the Governor’s Council for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence and served on the Children’s Trust Board of Directors. In March 2022, she transitioned to Director of Training and Staff Development at the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance. Most recently, in August 2024, Ms. Botus was appointed Executive Director of Project Hope Boston.

Deeply committed to serving vulnerable populations, she has volunteered on the Boards of Directors at Pine Street Inn, Project Hope, and One Family Inc., as well as serving on the Leadership Council for the Center for Social Policy at UMASS Boston. Additionally, she co-chairs the Governing Board and Parent Council at Another Course to College. Ms. Botus is a recipient of the Beacon Award from COMPASS for Kids and the 2013 Emerging Leader Award of Project Hope Boston from the Bank of America Foundation. As a proud Trinidadian American and a mother of four children, she lives in Hyde Park, MA, where she enjoys reading, gardening, and home remodeling.
